Politically whatsapp has been indirectly used such it has been used for spreading fake news to news reporters about government authorized personnel which has created riots. It has also been used to conduct protests, and coordinate everything for example the Indian Farmers Protest, because of this reason countries like Nigeria have temporarily blocked it, some countries also carefully check their citizens WhatsApp to find a threat. Some countries have also permanently blocked WhatsApp for reasons such as threats from other countries, China and Iran fall into this category, but China decided to make their own messaging app which is called “WeChat”, and it would not even be correct to blame the Nigerian government for blocking WhatsApp because the young Nigerian protestors have started using social media apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, tik tok and more to spread misinformation about their government, leading to protests and rallies in the country leading to violence. The Iranian Government would not like WhatsApp to be used in their country because they would like for their country to get influenced by the Western Culture.
